Background: According to Global cancer stastistics in 2002, gastric cancer is the fourth common cancer in the world and the first in China. Gastric cancer threatenes to people's health, so the government attaches more importance to gastric cancer prevention and treatment. The carcinogenesis of gastric cancer happens step by step from normal gastric epithelium cells to gastric cancer cells. Different gastric cell lines from every stage of gastric cancer tissues have been established in vitro. Consequently, it forms section images of gastric cancer development that arrayed these gastric cell lines in term of their differentiation. Through the research of these gastric cells, the consecutive changes of these cellular proteomes can be observed, express changing proteins spots can be found by comparative proteomics, and it demonstrates the association between these novel spots and gastric cancer carcinogenesis in each stage and disciplines, so that can be used to screen and detect gastric cancer patients.Aims: In order to detect gastric biomarkers, we selected one normal gastric epithelium cell line and four gastric cancer cell lines.Through two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis whole soluble proteins in each cell lines were separated. The proteins expressing maps of these five cell lines were described. Through analyzing the maps, the different expressing spots were found and identified by MALDI TOF-TOF and searched in proteins database. Identified special spots will be confirmed...
