Glucocorticoid induced glaucoma (GIG) is an open-angle glaucoma which is resulted from periocular or physical glucocorticoid (GC), and Glucocorticoid administration can lead to increased intraocular pressure in greater than 90% of patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. There were pathological changes in trabecular meshwork which caused the increase of the resistance to aqueous outflow and induced raised intraocular pressure. Although there are many theories such as agmatine polyglucose (GAGs) theory, trabeculum cells phagocytosis's theory, heredity theory, the pathogenesy of long-term use of glucocorticoid induced glaucoma is still unknown. At present many researches about GIG focus on the structure, function, cellar character and cell membrane receptor of trabecular meshwork, such as glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and aquaporin, trabecular meshwork cell membrane patch clamp, et al. In addition, extracellular matrix (ECM) and gene regulation are also hot spots. With the pose of aquaporin and the detection of ocular different tissue specificity aquaporin, some researchers believe the expression of AQP1 in trabecular meshwork cells maybe the major factor to GIG, some also suggest that periocular or physical...
