Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings And Pathological Classification Correlation In Meningioma

Background and Purpose Meningioma is one of the most common intracranial neoplasms occurring worldwide and the treatment of choice being surgical resection depends completely on radiological evaluation. Though known as benign tumours initially, malignant transformation has been studied for the last several decades now. MRI in meningioma can give information regarding the consistency of tumor at cellular levels and nature of the tumour as well as information regarding invasion of venous sinuses, which helps the surgeon to plan for surgery accordingly. Malignancy in meningioma gives certain radiological features thus saving the patient from undergoing unnecessary surgical procedure. This study will evaluate the MRI characteristics of meningiomas with histopathological correlation and study the significance of MRI in differentiating benign from malignant meningioma.Materials and Methods This is a case analysis study involving 50 patients who had undergone surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University.
