We used disability adjusted life years (DALY) as the indicator to estimated the diseases burden in Anhui province from 1996 to 2000.DALY is a comparative indicator to assess the lost of both premature death and years lived with disability, which measured the loss caused by vary diseases in quantity. Not only can diseases burden be assessed by incidence, incapability, disability and health, but also be analyzed by different regions, population(sex , age) and causes. Then we can found out the main serious diseases, susceptible population, and dangerous regions. The result is used to realize and control diseases, provide the scientific proves to health policy and judge the relative priority of interventions in terms of cost-effectiveness. Daly has become one of the most important measures of diseases burden all over the world.The study of loss of DALY, the loss of economy and the average economical loss from 1996 to 2000 was carried out. The mutual relationship between the burden of disease (BOD) and social economy was studied. According the result, the loss of DALY in Anhui province from 1996 to 2000 was 54.33 million DALY, 69.35 percent of which was caused by incommunicable diseases. The diseases model was very similar to the average level of Chinese. Overall, four serious disease of all are cardiovascular disease, and malignant neoplasm, the minority of which is attributable to people over 45 years group. In addition, the burden of disease born by males is higher than by females. Among the YLLs, the most of which was caused by incommunicable disease. The loss of economy from 1996 to 2000 due to disease was 305.8779 billion. The average economical loss from 1996 to 2000 accounting for GDP is 2.24%. The relative coefficient between BOD and social economy is-0.7.The study provides the foundation for health government, that chart of disease have changed.
