Acute renal failure (ARF) continues to represent a very significant and potentially devastating problem in clinical medicine. The incidence of ARF is high (about 200 cases per million adult population per year),and varies from 5% of hospitalized patients to 30-50% of patients in intensive care units. Despite significant technical advances in therapeutics, the mortality and morbidity associated with ARF remain dismally high and have not appreciably improved during the last four decades.Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is the major cause of ARF in the native kidney, and an invariable occurrence in the transplanted kidney. Common medical conditions leading to IRI in the native kidney include cardiovascular disease, stroke, trauma, dehydration, and surgical procedures. In addition to the usual complications of ARF, IRI in the transplanted kidney results in delayed graft function, which significantly increases the risk of graft loss and acute rejection. In recent years, with the increased procedure of organ transplantation, The incidence of ischemia reperfusion injury were significantly increased,. These findings imply that the treatment strategy for renal ischemia reperfusion injury is not optimal in preventing. ARF. Therefore, it is important to develop new agents that efficiently and safely protect the kidney from ischemia reperfusion injury.Based on previous functional results, we aimed to investigate the experimental therapeutic effects and protective mechanism of traditional Chinese drugs and iptakalim on I/R injury in the I/R injury model.1 we copyed the renal ischemia/reperfusion injury model(I/RI model) and preliminary investigated the effection of three kinds of Traditonal Chinese Drugs(TCD) on the renal functional damage with the I/RI model.Firstly, under anesthesia, a right nephrectomy was performed and the male Wistar rats were allowed to recover for 2 weeks before they were subjected to I/R injury. On the 15th day following right nephrectomy, under anesthesia, a latero-abdominal laparotomy was made, and using minimal dissection, the left renal pedicle isolated. The left renal pedicle...
