Gastrointestinal dysfunction is a frequent complication of diabetes mellitus . Even though autonomic neuropathy, gastrointestinal hormone and vasodilation are regarded as the important factors in gastrointestinal dysfunction , there are many problems without clarification .Aim:1. To establish rat model of diabetes , and to investigate the pathogenesis of diabetic gastrointestinal dysfunction .2. To study the distribution and the changes of the ultrastructure of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) in the colon of diabetic rats , and to explore the relationship between ICC and expression of c-kit mRNA.3. To investigate the changes of heme oxygenase-2(HO-2) expression in the colon of diabetic rats .4. To investigate the immunocolocalization of the HO-2 and ICC in the colon of both normal and diabetic rats .Methods:1. The diabetic rat model was established by single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) (80mg/kg) ; the control group was injected with the same dose of citrate buffer solution . after raising for 6 weeks , the gastrointestinal transit rate in two groups was measured by...
