Objective: To explore the relationship between anatomic variation of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses and chronic rhinosinusitis with and without polyps. Methods: Four hundred and eleven coronal plane CT scans of the paranasal sinuses were divided into 3 groups; those without chronic rhinosinusitis and polyps were enrolled in the normal group(group A) and those with chronic rhinosinusitis without polyps were enrolled in the chronic rhinosinusitis group(group B) and the polyps group(group C) is those with chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps. The prevalence of different anatomic variants in group A , B and C were calculated in individual and using the SPSS V.12.0 for windows to analyze the differences in the frequency of anatomic variations in the three groups. There are six patterns of superior attachment of the uncinate process(UP) which are those superior of the UP attachs lamina papyracea(type 1) , attachs posterior wall of the agger nasai cell(type 2), attachs both lamina papyraces and the junction of the middle tubinate (MT) with cribriform plate(type 3), attachs both the junction of the...
