Objectives: To provide the anatomical basis of transplantation of pedicled pisiform bone to replace carpal bone with necrosis by observing the source of blood supply and the distribution character of nutrient arteries of pisiform, and by measuring caliber and length of every nutrient artery. Methods: 1. Twenty fresh adult epipodite specimens dissected which was irritated with red latex, in order to observe the source and the distribute character of blood supply of pisiform combining with partly proplasm specimens.2. To measure punctually caliber and length of every nutrient artery ,and to analyze the data in statistics.Result: 1. Blood supply source of pisiform The nutrient arteries of pisiform are mainly come from the ulnar artery, from the descending branch of the supracarpal cutaneous branch of ulnar artery, and from the palmar profound branch of ulnar artery. And the nutrient arteryies of the muscle, the tendon and the ligamentous adnexed around pisiform provide nutrition to the bone directly or mediately.2. Distribution character of blood supply of pisiform Pisiform can receive blood supply on the proximate, distant, ulnaris and radialis surfaces. But there is no blood supply on its dorsal surface, the articular surface with triquetrum. One to three branches from ulnar artery enter the bone on the radialis surface. The pisiform branches of the descending branch of the supracarpal cutaneous branch of ulnar artery enter the bone on the ulnaris and the proximate surfaces. The recurrent branch of the palmar profound branch of ulnar artery(its frequency is 80 percent) enter the...
