Synthesis Of Hydrazinomethylene Meldrum's Acids And Structural Analysis Of Mannich Base Of Meldrum's Acid

This dissertation consists of two parts.Part 1: The chemistry of Meldrum's acid is dominated by its susceptibility to nucleophilic attack at positions 4 and 6 and to electrophilic attack at position 5. Meldrum's acid and the derivatives of Meldrum's acid have been widely used in fine chemical and pharmaceutical industry. The paper focuses on the syntheses of Hydrazinomethylene Meldrum's acids. Heating Meldrum's acid and excess triethyl orthoformate under reflux for appropriate time, which was followed by addition of hydrazines and continued under reflux. We can obtain the products in high yield.Part 2: Structure of Mannich Base of Meldrum's acid was analyzed by X-Ray single crystal diffraction.
