[Objective]: To investigate the effect of Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) andcaudal-relatedhomeodomain transcription-2 ( CDX2 ) proteins in the carcinogenesis, progression, invasion and metastasis of human colorectal adenocarcinomas and identify its relation to the clinicopathological indices of colorectal adenocarcinoma.[Methods] : COX2 and CDX2 proteins were detected by SP-immunohistochemistry in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embeded tissues for 30 colorectal adenomas, 35 colorectal adenocarcinomas with no regional lymph node metastasis, and 35 primary colorectal adenocarcinoma tissues with regional lymph node metastasis.[Results]: The expression of COX2 protein distributed in cytoplasm andcell membranes gradually increased from colorectal adenomas to colorectal adenocarcinomas ( P = 0.000 ) . From well differentiated colorectal adenocarcinomas to the poorly differentiated, the expression of COX2 protein were significantly increased (P= 0.009) . The expression of COX2 protein between colorectal adenocarcinoma with no regional lymph node metastasis and primary colorectal adenocarcinoma with regional lymph node metastasis was significantly different (P=0.036) . The expression of COX2 did not correlate with some clinicopathological indices (P>0.05), such as gender, age, and site of...
