Background and Objective: Thoracolumbar burst fracture is one of spinal fractures in clinic. We once estimated the stability on the basis of the type of fractures and ignored the importance of the intervertebral discs. Therefore we debated how to choose the way of the surgery. We knew little about the basic research on the intervertebral discs after thoracolumbar burst fracture. Meanwhile, the imaging rasearch was not good. So we were in trouble with how to choose the way of therapy. In order to serve clinical therapy, we discussed the effection of the intervertebral discs on the way of theray with researching imaging alteration and detecting the expression of proteoglycan and collagen II in the nucleus pulposus(NP).Materials and Methods: Imaging data of 24 cases of thoracolumbar burst fracture were selected from Department of Orthopaedics, West China Hospital, Sichuan University including X-ray, CT and MRI.
