Objective To evaluate the prognostic efficacy of preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization for renal cell carcinoma. For the second group (operation alone), and process the control research with the method of survival.Patients and methods 67 patients of renal cell carcinoma at intervention ward and urology department in 1 st hospital of shanxi medical university from 2000.5-2005.10 were collected. There are 42 man and 27 woman. The age ranged from 34 to77. The patients were devided to two group, one group were treaded by preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization and the number is 37, others were treaded by operation alone and the number is 30. The statistic methods :Use the COX's proporial hazarad regression model to analysis the relation of the survival time and the effected factors, use the Kaplan-meier survival curver to analysis the relationship of two therapy methods and the survival time and process the Log-rank testResults The preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization of 37 patients are successful, the survival time is 5-47 months, average 33.86±2.79 months. The survival time of 30 patients treated by operation alone is 3-39 months, average 22.64±2.14 months. The statistic analysis results: Use the statistic software SPSS 12.0 to analyze. The relativity between the death rate of renal cell carcinoma and two methods are prominent(P<0.05), and it's relative risk is 4.880, it's regression coefficient is 1.585. Prove preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization for renal cell carcinoma is significant to improve patients'survival time. Compare the preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization and operation alone, the death resk of patients treated by operation alone is 4.880 times. The Kaplan-meier survival curver between two treated methods and survival time show: the survival time of the patients treated by preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization is significant high than the patients treated by operation alone. Conclusion The survival time of the patients treated by preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization is significant high than the patients treated by operation alone. Preoperative trasarterial chemo-embolization is a safe and effective method in the treatment of renal carcinoma.
