Objective:Enamel demineralization characterized as white spot exist generally among people who receive fixed orthodontics and it will be aggravated and even develop into early enamel caries with the course of treatment prolong. It was reported that the incidence of white spot is about 50-70%. Studies show that serious demineralization can not be completely repaired again only through mineralization role of saliva system. Thus the prevention of enamel demineralization during orthodontic treatment has been a chief problem for orthodontists to consider. Resin-modified glass ionomer cements are the successful improvements of traditional glass ionomer cements. Small amount of hydrophilic resin base materials added to traditional glass ionomer cements make RMGIC more efficieint in bondind than traditional glass ionomer cements, and at the same time retain the positive characteristics of traditional glass ionomer cements, such as the slow release of fluorine to the adjacent areas, absorbing fluorine from the oral surroundings and release fluorine again, promoting tooth remineralization, these help to inhibit dental caries. RMGIC is more and more widely used by orthodontists for bonding brackets now. This new generation of GIC has been confirmed to provide adequate...
