| The purpose of this study was to reveal physiological function in compartments of forearm muscles, and investigate the possibility of transplantation of neuromuscular compartments. through measuring muscle architectures, distribution of muscle spindles and fiber-type regionalization in neuromuscular compartments of forearm skeletal of adult human cadavers. And there are significant differences among them, which can be references in muscular compartment transplantation. Our experiments supply a theoretic for how to select and harvest an ideal compartment of skeletal muscle for transplantation. Parameters of muscular architecture of each neuromuscular compartment suitable for transfer in forearm were measured, which can be compared with those of disused muscles when needed. Then we can select an optimal muscular compartment to match the disused one. Thus we can not only ensure optimal functional recovery of muscle unit after transplantation, but also maintain the function of donor site as far as possible. |
