Accurate optometry is a very important step in LASIK surgery. Wavefront aberration measurement can improve its exactness and objectivity. So it can highly improve optical quality of eye surgery. The paper is based on the WFA-1000 developed together by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and 66 Vision-Tech Co. (Suzhou), Ltd. Mainly does researches on the key technology of the human eye auto-tracking, such as digital image processing and serial communication.In chapter two, the concept of wavefront aberration and its causes are described. The paper also proposes Zernike polynomials to represent the aberrated wavefront in the human pupil and the relation between them. The principle of the subjective wavefront aberrometer and its software control flow chats are given. Based on the research of the present status of wavefront aberrometer, we do some improvement and develop the human eye auto-tracking system. We Use some digital image processing methods to locate the pupil which greatly improve the exactness and celerity.After the location of the pupil, the paper gives emphasis to the other pivotal technology, the serial communication. It presents the principle and some of the software control codes. According to the result, we realize the three-dimensional auto-tracking of the human pupil during the wavefront aberration measurement. A subjective wavefront aberrometer is developed with the cooperation of Su-zhou 66 Vision-Tech Co., Ltd.Based on the analysis of the statistical datas and reports of several hospitals, the human pupil auto-tracking system applied on the wavefront aberrometer can give more effective and exacter direction to the correction of refractive error and wavefront aberration. It also greatly improves the quality of the surgery and achieves satisfied feedbacks.
