Diabetes is characterized as a endocrinic and metabolic syndrome with the hyperglycaemia, usually jeopardizes greatly to the healthy of mankind. According to WHO diabetes is classified into Typeâ… diabetes and typeâ…¡. Typeâ… diabetes (insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, IDDM) is caused by the deficiency of insulin secretion, whereas typeâ…¡diabetes (Non-insulin-dependent diabetic mellitus, NIDDM) is resulted in the impaired insulin activity and deficient insulin secretion. In the total of diabetes there has been about 90% is Typeâ…¡diabetes, of which there are over 60% occurred in overweight individuals. It was estimated that the morbidity would reach to 215 millions in 2015 from 160 millions on 2000 in the world. Data and statistics over the last decades have shown that diabetes was the third death cause following cancer and cardiovascular diseases. In China with the change of living style, improvement of living quality and aging of population, diabetes incidences is strikingly increasing during recent years and is secondary to that in India. WHO forecasted that China's morbidity of diabetes would reach up to 50 millions in 2005. Therefore, to develop the economic and useful drugs for diabetes would have promising foreground.Glibenclamide and metform compound was a preparation combined Glibenclamide and metform mainly for the treatment of type 2 diabetic patients who had been proved insufficient only by diet.G1ibenclamide enhanced insulin secretion from the pancreatic beta ce11s, whereas metform reduces insulin resistance at the muscle and adipose tissue levels and inhibits hepatic gluconeogenesis. This compound tablets has been approved by FDA in 2001 and widely being used in clinic overseas. The present study was aimed to determine the dissolution rate and bioequivalence of the domestic glibenclamide and metformin compound tablets. Glibenclamide produced by Tianjing pharmaceutical Ltd, Tianjing pharmaceutical research institute and metform manufactured by zhonghua pharmaceutical division, Shanghai pharmaceutical (group) were employed as the control drug.
