Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) has been a major public health problem worldwide now. Although highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has led to reduction in viral load and improvement in CD4 cell count, high cost, severe side effects, increasing emergence of drug-resistant virus strains and bad adherence limit the use of HAART. Therefore it needs an effective vaccine to control HIV-1 and prevent it from spreading. In many studies, it is indicated that Virus-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) responses are critical in the control of HIV-1 and SIV infection. The ability to elicit potent CTL responses has become a priority for HIV-1 vaccine candidates. Protein Nef is one of the proteins expressed during early time and the first targeted protein recognized by CTL after HIV-1 infection. Now it has been demonstrated that Nef can activate CD4+T lymphocyte, increase transmissibility of viral particle and internalization of CD4 receptor and MHC, and prevent cell apoptosis. In this study, 57 chronically HIV-1 infected individuals and AIDS patients were enrolled. CD4 cell counts and viral load were detected. PBMC were separated by...
