Autonomic nervous system plays a key role in the occurrence, maintenance and termination of heart arrhythmia. The nerve fibers and cells from sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve system form the cardiac superficial ganglionated plexuses. Some histological evidences have showed that the ganglionated plexus responsible for the physiological function of heart were almost located in some epicardial fat connective tissue. As these connective tissue are almost fat, they are named fat pad. One of them, inferior vein cava fat pad (IVCFP) play a key role in controlling the atrioventricular conduction. It maybe benefit to the control of rapid ventricular rate during atrial fibrillation. But the actual mechanism is not well known yet. It deserves more careful exploration.
