Giant cell tumor of bone is a one of the most common bone tumor which origin has not decleared. Generally, it is considered come from mesenchymal tissue in marrow. It is an aggressive, destructive epiphyseal lesion characterized by abundant multinuceared giant cells and it has a feature of potencial maligenancy. GCT is most often found in the extremities of human beings. There appears to be a slight female predominance. The majority of patients with GCT are effectively treated with intralesional curettage. Functional outcome is usually very good, but the tumor still has a comparatively higher tendency toward local recurrence, and a certain capacity to metastasize to the lungs. The incidence of GCT in china is much higher than other countries and it's statistically reported as the first or second rank among primary bone tumors. Understanding its biological characters is important for the prevention of this disease by assaying in vitro model systems. So it may be necessary to declear the mechanisms of recurrence, canceration and metabasis of GCT because there are so many patients whith GCT in our country. To establish a humanhuman cell line from GCT of bone, it will provide an experimental model for the research of this kind of tumor.AIM: To study the biological characteristics of GCT of bone cultured in vitro and establish a human cell line from GCT of bone.METHODS: The specimens of GCT of bone were cultured primarily in...
