Background and purpose:The immunomodulating properties of antimicrobial drugs may have important implications for clinical practice, particularly for those subjects whose immune system has been compromised.Cefodizime—a third-generation cephalosporin, has been shown to possess immunostimulating properties in preliminary in vitro and ex vivo studies as well as in a few experimental animal models and human subjects. It has been known that the introduction of a 7-mercapto-1,3-thiazole chain at position 3' of the dihydrothiazine ring endowed CDZM with the immunomodulating properties.Aim to study further on the immunomodulatory activity of cefodizime and explore the correlation between the immunomodulating effects of CDZM and HLADRB1 alleles ,TNF-α-308 gene polymorphism,in this study, we assessed the influence of the treatments with CDZM on the sera level of TNFα,IL4 and IFN-γ in chronic hepatitis B patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and on the expression of TNF-α and IL10 on the Paraffin-embedded liver tissue sections of mice with septicemia and BCG+LPS induced hepatic injury . In the same time, 73 patients with chronic hepatitis B and 50 healthy subjects were chosen to examine HLA-DRB1*0301 and HLADRB1* 1501 alleles and TNF-α-308 polymorphism with sequence-specific primer polymerase chain reaction...
