Objective:Cerebral ischemia is one of the cerebral vascular diseases that seriously affects the human health and quality of life, current therapeutic strategies do little to reduce the long-term morbidity associated with the injury. How to improve the injured neurological functions of the patients suffering from cerebral ischemia is still the key problem of the present time. The research indicated, adult mammalian exist neurogenesis in the central nervous system tern (CNS), which still could produce the new neuron unceasingly, this phenomenon continuely exist the area of the rostral subventricular zone of lateral ventricle (SVZ) and the subgranular zone (SGZ) in the dentate gyrus (DG) of hippocampus, neurogenesis has provided the basis from the self-repair for cerebral ischemia or the nerve recession pathological change.Because neurogenesis persists in the adult mammalian brain and can be regulated by physiological and pathological events, we investigated the neurogenesis and its the pathology significance in the SVZ and DG after focal cerebral ischemia of adult rats, to discuss the relations about VEGF and its acceptor with the neurogenesis after cerebral ischemia of adult rat.
