Objective:The purpose of the study was to explore the coronal sectional antomy and images of pancreas and its ducts, in order to provide practical anatomic data for the imaging diagnosis and surgical treatment of the disease of pancreas and its adjacent structures. Methods:The division, adjacent structures and size of pancreas on the coronal plane were investigated on 6 sets of superior abdomen of Chinese adult cadavers, MSCT and MPR coronal images of superior abdomen of 32 Chinese healthy people. The MRCP (magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography) technique was applied to display and measure the gallbladder bile duct system and pancreatic duct on the coronal plane on 16 sets of Chinese adult healthy volunteers.Results:1. The evolvement rule of the pancreas on its serial coronal sections: In coronal sections of thickness 5 mm and interval 1 mm, 14 sections, most frequently 11 sectionswere visualized on serial coronal sections with 5mm slice thickness , the pancreas appears mainly in the range of anterior 54mm and posterior 12mm of the posterior margin of inferior vena cava respectively on its serial coronal sections. The pancreatic neck firstly appears on the section through the angular part of left hepatic portal vein and the pancreatic tail disappeares on the section through the posterior parts of left renal sinus and splenic hilus.
