Objective To detect the expression of RhoC in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to reveal the correlation of the RhoC expression to the major clinicopathological characteristics and microvessel density (MVD); To explore the role of RhoC in the HCC invasion and metastasis and the vascularization. Methods With the method of hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining and immunohisto -chemical staining, speciments from 49 HCC patients,22 metastasis from HCC and 9 normal liver controls were studied. The relationship between the RhoC expression and pathological features as well as microvessel density (MVD) was evaluated. SPSS 11.5 was used for statistical analysis. Results 1,Immunohistochemical analysis demonstrated RhoC expression in 73.47%(36/49) of the primary HCCs, in 81.82%(18/22) of the metastasis from HCC and only in 11.11%(1/9) of the normal liver (P <0.01). 2,The expression of RhoC in HCC was not correlated with age, gender, tumor size,AFP,HbsAg and tumor encapsulation (P >0.05) but significantly correlated to the Edmondson grades and tumor metastasis (p=0.005及p=0.007).
