【Objective】The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of cadmium (Cd) on female gonads and estrogen receptor(ER) which express on uterus and to provide the scientific data for the study on toxicities and mechanism of female gonads.【Methods】Thirty-six mature Sprague-Damley(SD) female rats were weighted and randomly assigned to three groups based on body weight and were administrated subchronically with subcutaneous injection (daily dose is respectively 0,2.5,5.0mg/Kg(count CdCl2)BWT,5 days a week, for 5 weeks); Thirty-six immature Sprague-Damley(SD) female rats were weighted and randomly assigned to three groups based on body weight and were administrated subchronically with subcutaneous injection (daily dose is respectively 0,1.25,2.50mg/Kg(count CdCl2)BWT,5days a week, for 5 weeks).Four weeks later estrous cycle of each animal was observed with daily vaginal smears until the end of the test .The rats were killed on the day of the estrus stage. Body weight, organ weight and organ coefficent of ovaries and uterus, expression of ER in uterus and ERs(ERα和ERβ)mRNA were observed.
