Objective: 1. To evaluate the changes of glutathione and maleic dialdehyde in the retina at early stage of diabetic rats and the effect of zinc on glutathione and MDA in the retina. 2. To study the expression of apoptosis and apoptosis-related genes(Bcl-2, Bax and Caspase-3) in the retinas of diabetic rats, and investigate the prevention or cure effect of zinc sulfate on diabetic retinopathy in clinic.Metheds: First part: Seventy-two Wistar rats(regardless of their sex)were randomly divided into three groups:the normal control group, diabetic model group and zinc chloride therapy group. Each group consisted of twenty-four rats. The diabetic model was induced by peritoneal injection with a single ip dose of streptozotocin(60 mg/kg) in diabetic group and therapy group, simultaneously, a single ip dose of zinc chloride (ZnCl2) (10 mg/kg) was injected through peritoneal injection in therapy group, and normal control group was treated with balance salt solution, observe for 72 hours.Blood and tissue samples were collected at 24h, 48h, and 72 h post-treatment in each groups. The contents of glutathione (GSH) and Maleic Dialdehyde (MDA) in pancreas, liver and retina were detected by...
