Clinical Evaluation Of Treament Of Uterine Fibroids With High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound

Objective Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in women .The incidenceis about 25% in childbearing age. Approximately 50% patients have clinical symptoms drug therapy is available, including gonadotropin releasing hormone agonists (GnRHa), anti-hormonal agents; Myomectomy, hysterectomy, uterine arteria embolization(UAE) and other mini-invasive techniqueses are also used.Chang studied the effect of high-intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU ) irradiation on human uterine fibroids in vitro in 1999, it was confirmed the uterine fibroids cell could be destroyed by HIFU, Xiong reported that monkey uteri was destructed by HIFU. The treatment of human uterine fibroids by HIFU was performed in 2002, and safety and feasibility were manifested. a focused ultrasound medical device for uterine fibroids therapy was approved by FDA. Generally speaking, HIFU still be a relative new therapy of uterine fibroids, the clinical data quite are few. The objectives of this study were to assess the safety and effectiveness of this treatment.
