Part â…  Creation of acute pulmonary embolism model on rabbitsObjective To explore the feasibility of creating rabbit acute pulmonary embolism model by using absorbable gelatin sponge for image study. Materials and mathods 20 rabbits divided into 5 groups according to study time(2hours, 24hours, 3days, 7days, 14days), the animal models of acute pulmonary embolism were created by femoral vena catheter using gelatin sponges as emboli. 4 gelatin sponge emboli were injected into group A, group B, group C and 3 were injected into group D, group E. Pulmonary angiography were performed shortly after PE occurred. The rabbits were put into death in appointed time (in 2hours, 24hours, 3days, 7days, 14days) after pulmonary embolized, pulmonary arteries were anatomized to find whether and where embolism occurred, the pathologic manifestation of embolismic lung tissue were studied under microscopy. 2 contrast group rabbits injected physiological saline solution by catheter, and killed 7days, 14days later respectively. Results 19 of 20 rabbits were successful embolized, one died because of anaesthetic thunderbolt, the successful rate is 95%(19/20). All rabbits put into death on schedule except 1 of group E because of pneumothoax taken place in third days. 46 embolized lobule and segment pulmonary artery were shown by pulmonary angiography. The rabbits of group A displayed swelled lung and deep red colour surface, lung tissues hyperaemia was seen under microscopy. group B displayed shrinked lungs and wine surface, 2 of which contain dark area, haematose, hemorrhagic and white blood cell soaked lung tissues were seen under microscopy; 11 rabbits of group C, group D, group E displayed swelled or shrinked lungs with pallid, wine or dark surface, another displayed swelled lung but no change of lung surface colour. The left lung...
