Objective : To evaluate the safety, efficacy and reversibility of injectable testosterone undecanoate. Methods: One hundred and twenty -two eligible normal men were recruited intothis study, using monthly injections of testosterone undecanoate (TU) alone at a dose of 500 mg in men (an initial loading dose of 1000 mg TU, followed by 500 mg TU at monthly intervals were given) with WHO standard monitoring to observe changes of sperm, serum testosterone, FSH and LH as well as other clinical features.Result: 1. One hundred and nine of 113 men achieve azoospermia or severeoligozoospermia (≤1.0×10~6/ml) within the six-month suppression phase. The efficacy of TU was 96.5%. The mean length of time required for achieving azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia by TU was 106d. Reappearance of sperm occurred in one man during the efficacy phase. There were no pregnancies caused by men who achieved azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia.
