Objectives: To examine the effects of music intervention on the physiological variables and the anxiety level of mechanically ventilated patients in ICU.Methods: A total of 150 patients receiving mechanical ventilation were randomly assigned to music group, headphone group or control group depending on the sequence of participation.Intervention methods: Music group: let the subject to choose the preferred music piece from four categories, ensure the patient is comfortable with eyes closed to listen to the music for 30 minutes; Headphone group: ensure the subject is comfortable with eyes closed to wear the headphone for 30 minutes; Control group: ensure the subject is comfortable with eyes closed for 30 minutes.The patients were asked to answer the C-STAI scale before and after the study period; heart rate, respiratory rate and saturation of oxygen were obtained every 5 minutes for 30 minutes; blood pressure were obtained before and after the study period.
