The surface morphology of biomaterials plays important role in their performance. A lot of physical and chemical reaction take place on the surface, or have consanguineous relationship with their surface. As an important index for the evaluation of biomaterial, biological compatibility is related to the chemical state of surface, as well as with its surface morphology. The roughness, porosity, grain size and superficial area of material have direct influence on their properties in physical and chemical reaction. So the research of material surface morphology is helpful for the comprehension of these processes and functional mechanism. For metallic and inorganic material, it can also instruct the preparation and gradation through the research of superficial characters.Presently, many traditional approaches and equipments are applied in the measurements of surface parameters. However, traditional measurements are complex, inaccurate, ineffective and have limitation to the species of materials, furthermore, some equipment are very expensive. Digital image processing system has the superiority of wide measurement range, high preciseness, less limitation, fast measurement efficacy, etc. This study aims to develop a software system for the analysis of image of biomaterial's surface. The image processing technology is introduced in the analysis and evaluation of biomaterial. This software system can also be used for the analysis of other materials. The software system is based on the programming environment of Visual C++6.0. The digital processing algorithms are applied to the quantitative evaluation...
