Objective: Urticaria is a familiar allergic disease with complicated cause of disease in clinic of department of dermatology. At present, therapy for chronic urticaria is a intractable problem. Treating chronic urticaria with the way of combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine has acquired good therapeutic effect in China. Modern medicine think that some type hypersensitivity caused chronic urticaria. IgE type allergic mechanism plays an important role. Patients of chronic urticaria have elevated serum IgE levels. Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets is a new generation of non - sedative anti-histamine H1 receptor antagonist, has a wider anti- inflammatory effect, is a duplex anti-allergic drug. Chinese medicine think many chronic urticaria have deficiency syndrome, so the therapeutic means is mainly strengthening vital qi, firming the body, enriching blood, dispersing wind. Shengmajianji decoction has functions of reliving the exterior, promoting eruption and detoxicating. The objective of this test is to observe and compare the therapeutic effect and the influence on the levels of IgE of western medicine, Chinese medicine and combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine in treating chronic urticaria, to discuss a better way to treat chronic urticaria. Methods: 90 patients with chronic urticaria had been devided into three groups stochasticlyder: 30 patients in the western medicine group (A group) took orally Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets 5mg, once a day; 30 patients in the chinese medicine group (B group) took orally theShengmajianji 200ml which made by our hospital, twice a day; 30 patients in the combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine group (C group) took Levocetirizine Hydrochloride orally and the Shengmajianji at the same time. The treatment courses of the three groups were all 14 days. Before been treated, and 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days after been treat, we recorded all patients'change of itch degree, diameter, numbers and edema degree of urticariap, and every attack duration of time. Before been treated and 14 days after been treat, we determined the contents of IgE in their blood serum. Results: Before treatment, disease symptoms of group A, B, C have no significant differences (P> 0.05). During treatment, group A, B have no significant difference (P> 0.05), Group C and group A, B have significant differences (P< 0.05). 14 days after treatment, the total effective rates of the three groups were 73.33%,66.67%,93.33%. Comparing C group and the two others, there was significant difference in the therapeutic effect (P<0.05). 28 days after treatment, the total effective rates of the three groups were 63.33%,60.00%,86.67%. Comparing C group and the two others, there was significant difference in the therapeutic effect (P<0.05). Comparing before and 14 days after treated, the levels of IgE of all groups decreased apparently (P<0.05). In A group, the average contents of IgE decreased from 362.79±70.95U/ml to 222.57±52.03U/ml;In B group, the average contents of IgE decreased from 374.43±70.15U / ml to 231.13±4367U/ml;In C group, the average contents of IgE decreased from 375.17±83.53U/ml to 121.19±26.91U/ml. Comparing C group and the two others, there was significant difference in the therapeutic effect (P<0.05). Adverse reactions In patients with a total of 90 cases: 17 cases (%) have adverse reactions, mainly manifested as drowsiness, dizziness, gastrointestinal discomfort and adverse reactions were mild and disappeared after withdrawal. Conclusion: With the western medicine alone (Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets), simply using Chinese medicine (Shengmajianji), combination of Chinese and Western Medicine (Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets and decoction with Shengmajianji), All the treatment not only can achieve a good short-term treatment effect in chronic urticaria, but also may decrease IgE level. But the efficacy and IgE levels decreased significantly in combinational treatment group compared with the other two groups. So the coibination of Chinece medicine and western medicine is a safe and effective treatment of chronic urticaria treapment.
