| AIM To explore effects of cyclovirobuxine- D (CVB-D) on heart function and blood pressure of rats in vivo. METHODS CVB-D 3.35 mg·kg-1·d-1 was given ig to male SD rats for 2, 4 and 6 weeks, then proceeded in vivo haemodynamic meansurements through right carotid artery. Left ventricular sysytolic pressure (LVSP), left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP), maximal rate of rise and decline of left ventricular pressure (±dp/dtmax), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP)and heart rate (HR) were detected by the Medlab 6 system.RESULTS No significant difference was observed in 2-week and 4-week groups, LVSP elevated notably in 6-week CVB-D group, while SBP decreased. LVEDP, ±dp/dtmax, DBP and HR stayed stable in two groups.CONCLUSION CVB-D can improve heart function, lower blood pressure and reduce cardiac afterload in rats, while not quickening the heart rate synchronously. It may have some relationship with enhanced Ca2+ inflow/ improved Ca2+ release. |
