Effects Of Total Flavonoids Of Lxeris Sonchifolia On Proliferation And Collagen Synthesis Of Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

ObjectiveTo study whether total flavonoids of Lxeris Sonchifolia(TFLS)has effects on proliferation and collagen synthesis of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMC).MethodsVSMC of rat were cultured with TFLS of various concentrations,the proliferation of VSMC were observed with MTT method and the appropriate concentration range in which the proliferation of VSMC were inhibited were determined,then collagen 1 and mRNA of procollagenα₁(I) (Proα₁ (I) ) and transforming growth factor-betal (TGF-β1) were measured under these concentrations.ResultsUnder the concentrations of 50-250 mg.L^-1 , TFLS can inhibit proliferation of VSMC and reduce secretion of collagen I and expression of mRNA of Proα₁ (I) and TGF-β1.ConclusionTFLS has inhibiting effect on proliferation and collagen synthesis of VSMC,and this effect may be mediated by reduction of TGF-β1.
