Objective :(1)To assess the accuracy of multiple-frequency auditory steady-state evoked responses(ASSR) for estimating behavior hearing thresholds. (2)To study the normal values of thresholds of adults and older children with normal hearing by using ASSR. Methods: 96 ears of normal hearing people and 76 ears of mild, moderate and moderately severe sensorineural deafness people were tested by pure tone audiometry and ASSR respectively. The normal hearing people were divided into 6 groups:5-10 years old, 11-20 years old ,21-30 years old, 31-40 years old, 41-50 years old and above 51 years old. Each group has 8 normal hearing people(16 ears)-4 male (8 ears) and 4 female(8 ears). The thresholds of pure tone audiometry and ASSR were detected in normal hearing persons and patients with sensorineural deafness, then the results were analyzed by Bayes distinguish analysis, at last, the effects of sex, ears and age on the test values of ASSR were evaluated.Result: The correct diagnosis percent of normal hearing people was 100%, of mild, moderate and moderately severe sensorineural deafness people were 90.7%, 76.0% and 100%.There was no significant difference between the test value of male and female, left and right ears and the different age on ASSR.Conclusion: ASSR is proven to be a valid technique for estimation of an objective audiogram. The normal value of ASSR may not be influenced by sex, ears and age in adults and older children.
