The fabrication of monodisperse microbead has become more and more attractive because of its wide use in immunoassay, photoelectric material, combinatorial chemistry, and so on. Micro- encapsulation can be used to mask unpleasant smell and the taste of certain ingredients; can simply change physical and chemical properties of ingredients; can control the release of the encapsulated ingredients at the right place and the right time; can covert active, sensitive and volatile ingredients into stable ingredients. So, microcapsule is widely used in medicine, pesticide, food additive, dope, printing ink, bond and so on.Based on the above cognition, the research mainly focuses on the new fabrication method of microbead and microcapsule and their applications.1) Design and exploit a new apparatus for the fabrication of microbead and microcapsule.2) Fabricate the microbeads whose sizes are between 100μm and 2mm and the microcapsules whose sizes are between 800μm and 2mm. Besides, the parameters influencing the diameter and the monodispersity of the microbeads or the microcapsules are studied.3) Fabricate the microbeads which are encoded by pearl dye, a product of photonic crystal. The encoded microbeads are used as micro-carriers in bioanalysis and immunoassay. It is proved through experiments that microbeads fabricated by this method are preponderant when used in immunoassay.4) Microcapsules with tunable transparence are used in the building of the micro lens array.
