Objective: To find out the relationship between the symptom of "kidney deficiency" and hearing. Methods: According to age 62 healthy senile people were distributed into 2 groups: group A consists of 32 aged people (65-74 years old); group B consists of 30 presenile subject (51-59 years old); Another 30 young (20-30 years old) people with normal hearing as control group was group C . We measured auditory brainstem response (ABR) and pure tone audiometry in the 92 cases. All the subjects were assayed with the serum level of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and sexual hormones, including T on male and E2 on female.Result: The result of "kidney deficiency" — related test revealed that there was significant difference between these three groups and the oldest group had the most severity "kidney deficiency". We found that there was significant difference of hearing threshold between three groups. ABR test revealed that there are significant difference of peak latency of Ⅰ,Ⅴ and interpeak latency of Ⅲ-Ⅴ between group A and group C. Compared with group A and group C, groupB has no difference. Between three groups there was also significant difference of sexual hormones. There was significant difference of superoxide dismutase (SOD) between group A and group C, group B and group C,...
