Objective: To investigate the effect of Xiaoqinglong Decoction(XQLD) on the regulation of cell cycle of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMC) in asthmatic rats and explore a new method for the prevention and treatment of asthma.Methods: SD rats sensitized with ovalbumin conjuncted with Al(OH)3, were challenged with repeated exposure to aerosolized ovalbumin. Rats were randomly divided into the control, asthma and XQLD group. The pathologic changes of inner airway wall, airway smooth muscle and collagen fiber were determined by (1)observing the lung tissue sections stained with HE and Cirius red under the optic microscope. (2)using image analysis system to measure the airway internal perimeter,wall area,thickness of airway wall,et al. Then the cell cycle distribution together with the expression of cyclinE cyclinA cyclinB1 P27kip1 of ASMC were analyzed by flow cytometry. Results: (1) The inner airway wall smooth muscle layer subepithelial collagen fiber were significantly thicker in rats of asthma group than those of control group, the inner airway wall, smooth muscle layer and subepithelial collagen fiber were significantly thinner in rats of XQLD group than thoses of asthma group but the inner airway wall and smooth muscle layer were thicker than those in control group.The number of ASMC in rats of asthma...
