Pilot Study Of Active Ingredient For Liver Protection In Strengthening Healthy Qi Combined With Draining Dampness And Activating Blood Herb Complex

Liver is the biggest glandular organ for digestion and easy to be injured by enthetic and intrinsic substances. Liver injury is the indispensable pathological change of all the liver diseases. Liver protection drug research is always the hot point in the research area of liver disease drug therapy. The predominance of Chinese herb in liver protection had been clinically proved for many years. But nearly no active ingredient had been identified in the effective herb complex.The concanacalin A (ConA) induced mice liver injury was employed as the animal model and ALT as the main test item for evaluating the liver protection effect of the ingredients in the herb complex of strengthening healthy Qi combined with draining dampness and activating blood (SHQDDAB). The experiments had been done were listed as follow:1 The pilot study of the liver protection effect of Water extracts of SHQDDAB to Con A induced mice liver injury.2 The liver protection effect of the water extraction ingredient, water extraction and alcohol precipitation ingredient and alcohol precipitation residue ingredient from SHQDDAB to Con A induced mice liver injury.3 The death protection effect of the the water extraction ingredient, water extraction and alcohol precipitation ingredient and alcohol precipitation residue ingredient from SHQDDAB to Con A induced mice death.4 The effect of alcohol precipitation residue ingredient from SHQDDAB to liver tissue Fas mRNA in Con A induced mice liver injury.This study revealed that the main active ingredient in SHQDDAB for liver protection is exist in alcohol precipitation residue ingredient. To our knowledge, the main chemical composition in the alcohol precipitation residue ingredient of herb is polysaccharides. So the main chemical composition in the SHQDDAB was speculated to be polysaccharides. But it may need further evidences for proving.In this study, the research method for the single herb was used for a herb complex and got a good result, which indicated that this method is feasible in some sense for research in basic substance of Chinese herb complex effect. It support a new idea for research in basic substance of Chinese herb complex effect.
