Objective: To observe the preventive effect of the biodegradabaly artifical tendinous membrane of KS in the prevention of fibrous scar formation in the epidural space after laminectomy, and to investigate its perspective of clinical application. Methods: 80 Wistar rats were divided randomly into 4 groups- group A,B,C,D. The exposed duras were covered with biodegradabaly artificial tendinous membrane of KS (group A), autologous free fat(group B), autologous fascia (group C) and saline solution (group D) respectively. In general macroscopic observation, and immunohistochemical examination with which detecting the expressions of TGF-β1,VEGF in the epidural scar of the vertebral laminae, which were carried out at 2,4,6,8,12 weeks postoperatively, we could compare the differences of epidural scar formation and adhersion degrees between each interclass. Results: The differences of expressing quantities of TGF-β1 between group A and B at 8 weeks after laminectomy had no statistically significance(P=0.1992>0.05).And the expressing amounts between test results of the other groups were statistically significant (Fbetween groups=17.4681, q=4.8047~9.6095,n=4, P<0.01); The results of Examining VEGF's expressings between two groups at 8 weeks after laminectomy had generally significance in statistics (Fbetween-groups=30.5864, q=4.3673~12.3488,n=4,P<0.01;PAB=0.0954>0.05).Conclusions: Using the biodegradabaly artifical tendinous membrane of KS on prevention of epidural fibrous scar adhesion after laminectomy is more effective than using of autologous free fat or fascia.
