| OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of risperidone for depot suspension and risperidone in treating patients with schizophrenia.METHODS: A randomized, openly, controlled multicenter clinical trial was conducted. All 224 patients received 12 weeks treatment with either risperidone for depot suspension(n=110,30mg/2w)or risperidone(n=114,4mg/d). The main efficacy measure was the change in total score of PANSS.RESULTS: Risperidone for depot suspension has similar therapeutic effect to risperidone in treatment of schizophrenia. Risperidone for depot suspension has similar occurred rate of harmful event to risperidone in treatment of schizophrenia. Risperidone for depot suspension has similar occurred rate of EPS to risperidone in treatment of schizophrenia.CONCLUSIONS: The results show that risperidone for depot suspension has similar therapeutic effect and occured rate of harmful events and occured rate of EPS to risperidone in treatment of schizophrenia.
