Objective:To detect the expression of Survivin,Fas and FasL in human gestational trophoblastic diseases and explore its role in pathogenesis and development of gestational trophoblastic diseases.Methods:Immunohistochemical method was used to detect Survivin,Fas and FasL expression in the tissues of 40 cases of normal villi,36 cases of hydatidiform mole,15 cases of invasive hvdatidiform mole and 11 cases of choriocarcinoma.Results:Survivin immunoreactivity was shown in 11 of 40(27.5%)of normal villi group, in 15 of 36(41.7%)of hydatidiform mole group,in 9 of 15(60.0%)of invasive hydatidiform mole group,in 8 of 11(72.7%)of choriocarcinoma group.From normal villi to hydatidiform mole,invasive hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma,the expression of Survivin showed an ascending tendency.There was significant difference between normal villi and choriocarcinoma group(P<0.05).Fas immunoreactivity was shown in 38 of 40(95.0%)of normal villi group,in 32 of 36 (88.9%)of hydatidiform mole group,in 7 of 15(46.7%)of invasive hydatidiform mole group, in 4 of 11(36.4%)of choriocarcinoma group.From normal villi to hydatidiform mole,invasive hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma,the expression of Fas showed an descending tendency. There was significant difference between normal villi and choriocarcinoma group(P<0.05).The expression of Fas in normal villi group and hydatidiform mole group was higher than that in invasive hydatidiform mole group and choriocarcinoma group(P<0.05).However,the difference was not significant between normal villi group and hydatidiform mole group, invasive hydatidiform mole group and choriocarcinoma group(P>0.05).FasL immunoreactivity was shown in 7 of 40(17.5%)of normal villi group,in 16 of 36 (44.4%)of hydatidiform mole group,in 8 of 15(53.3%)of invasive hydatidiform mole group, in 9 of 11(81.8%)of choriocarcinoma group.From normal villi to hydatidiform mole,invasive hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma,the expression of FasL showed an ascending tendency.There was significant difference between normal villi group and other groups(P<0.05). And,The difference between invasive hydatidiform mole group and choriocarcinoma group was not significant(P>0.05).Close negative correlation was observed between the expression of Fas and FasL in gestational trophoblastic diseases.And there was negative correlation between Fas and Survivin in choriocarcinoma group. Conclusion:Survivin was involved in pathogenesis and development of human gestational trophoblastic diseases.The lower expression of Fas and higher expression of FasL might reduce the apoptosis of tumor cells,and the lower expression of Fas might work in the tumor with the higher expression of Survivin,they might involve in the pathogenesis of gestational trophoblastic tumor by inhibiting the apoptosis.
