Objective:To explore aberrant methylation of p16 gene in the serum of head and neck neoplasms patients, and to study the association of the aberrant methylation status of p16 gene with some clinical factors, including neoplasm metastasis, tumer types.Materials & Methods:The peripheral blood of 82 cases of head and neck neoplasms patients was withdrawn(19 cases of donors as controls),all of the sample were final diagnosis by pathological diagnosis, the total of the malignant tumour was 46,the total of the benign tumor or benign lesion was 36,each sample was detected by methylation-specific PCR(MSP).Results:The aberrant methylation rate of p16 gene in head and neck neoplasms serum was 59.8%(49/82),and that in donors'serum was为5.3%(1/19),.There was significant difference between them(p<0.05).The aberrant methylation rate of p16 gene in benign tumor or benign lesion was 27.8%(10/36),and that in malignant tumour was 84.8%(39/46),There was significant difference between them(p<0.05);The aberrant methylation rate of p16 gene in thyroid papillary carcinoma among the thyroid disease was 91.7%(22/24),The aberrant methylation rate of p16 gene in nodular goiter was 26.7%(8/30),There was significant difference between them(p<0.05).Conclusion:1.The aberrant methylation of p16 gene between head and neck neoplasms serum and donors'serum have significant difference,it is suggested that the aberrant methylation of p16 gene detected by MSP could reconnaissance high-risk group of head and neck neoplasms;2.The aberrant methylation of p16 gene between head and neck benign tumor or benign lesion and malignant tumour'serum have significant difference,it is suggested that the aberrant methylation of p16 gene detected by MSP could provid laboratory'evidence for discriminate head and neck neoplasms patients in clinic;3.The aberrant methylation of p16 gene between thyroid papillary carcinoma and nodular goiter,it is suggested that the aberrant methylation of p16 gene detected by MSP could prejudgement the thyroid papillary carcinoma and the nodular goiter before operation。...
