Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS) System which is one of the hottest fields in modern medicine domain brings large progress to clinic diagnostics and treatments. Based on the advanced surgery mode of CAS, e.g. medical image guiding, surgical planning and navigation & positioning, the problem of targets positioning in traditional surgery is fixed. Besides to improve the surgical equality, CAS provides the possibilities for Micro Invasive Surgery (MIS), Tele-surgery and Robot surgery, and it represents the developing orientation of future's surgery technologies. Thus, the researches of technologies of CAS system make sense.In this paper, a few works have been accomplished around CAS system:(1) The developing, prospect and features of CAS system are introduced.(2) The key technologies of CAS system and the executive process of CAS are analyzed in detail.(3) According to the Digital Imaging and Communication of Medicine (DICOM) 3.0 standard, the data structures of DICOM 3.0 standard medical image file and DICOM dataset are investigated, and finally, the loading module of this kind of files is developed.(4) The theoretical basic of the medical image registration algorithm witch is based on the maximization of mutual information is analyzed; to overcome the difficulty of optimization caused by the local extremum, the hybrid optimization algorithm is raised; based on the existence of"Security Region", a kind of improved registration algorithm based on hybrid optimization and feature point pre-registration is proposed; The experimental results show the validation, high precision and excellent accelerating capability of the algorithm.(5) Based on the Visualization ToolKit (VTK), the DICOM medical image 3D reconstruction, including surface and volume reconstruction, is completed.(6) Based on all the above works, a kind of CAS system framework software is developed with Visual C++. Net 2003, which includes the functions of display, image preprocessing, medical image registration and fusion, 3D reconstruction, provides a basic framework for the mature CAS system software.
