Objective: To observe the clinical therapeutic efficacy on electroacupuncture combining with acupoint-injection of Danshen Zhusheye treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion, meanwhile to compare the curative effects of treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion with three treatments. These three treatments include electroacupuncture combining with acupoint-injection of Danshen Zhusheye electroacupuncture combining with acupoint-injection of VitB1 VitB12 and single electroacupuncture. Moreover to approach the mechanism of action on electroacupuncture combining with the acupoint-injection of Danshen Zhusheye for lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion. Methods: Ninety cases of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion selected according with inclusion criteria were randomly divided into three groups: the group of electroacupuncture combining with acupoint-injection of Danshen Zhusheye (A group), the group of electroacupuncture combining with acupoint-injection of VitB1 VitB12 (B group) and the group of single electroacupuncture (C group), Each group included thirty cases. The fundamental points were Jiaji points of the fourth and the fifth lumbar vertebrae (double sides), the subsidiary points were Huantiao point(sick side) Yanglingquan point (sick side) Weizhong point(sick side) Kunlun point(sick side). The three groups applied the same points with the identical electroacupuncture parameters and time of therapy. After the electroacupuncture, Living acupuncture points and the corresponding segmented Jiaji points were selected as injection-points needed by A group and B group. We looked on respectively vision analogy assessment(VAS) lower back pain assessment standard (JOA evaluation sheet) and F-wave incubation period of tibial nerve and common peroneal nerve as observed index. Then we would further carry on statistical treatment of dates of three groups before the treatment and after the treatment. Results: (1) JOA score: the comparison of A group to B and C groups had significant differences by applying t-test after the treatment(P<0.05,P<0.01); (2)VAS score: the comparison of A group to B and C groups had significant differences by applying t-test after the treatment(P<0.05,P<0.01);(3) F-wave incubation period: (common peroneal nerve) the comparison of A group to B group had no significant difference after the treatment (P>0.05), the comparison of A group and B group to C group had significant differences after the treatment (P<0.05). (tibial nerve): the comparison of A group to B group had no significant difference after the treatment (P>0.05), the comparison of A group and B group to C group had significant differences after the treatment (P<0.05); (4) the evaluation of clinic therapeutic effect: the cure and marked rate respectively was A group 86.67% B group 73.33% C group 63.33%. The comparison of A group to B group and C group had significant differences by applying X~2 test(P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion: Electroacupuncture combining withacupoint-injection of Danshen Zhusheye is more effective than two other groups on treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion, which illustrated that electroacupuncture combining with acupoint-injection of Danshen Zhusheye should be extensively applied in the clinic because of its exact therapeutic effect on treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion.
