Objective: To detect the expression of ET-1,TGF-β1 and a-SMA in renalpelvis of hydronephrosis and to investigate the role of ET-1,TGF-β1 in thepathophysiologic significance of the disease.Method: The expression of ET-1,TGF-β1 and a-SMA protein was determinedin 30 renal pelvis specimens of patients with hydronephrosis and 5 normal controlspecimens by the method of immunohistochemistry.Result: The expression of ET-1,TGF-β1 and a-SMA are obviously increased inmuscle layer of hydronephrotic renal pelvis compared to the nomal renal pelvisspecimen(P<0.01).Threre was a positive correlation between ET-1 and a-SMA(r=0.81,p<0.01).And TGF-β1 statistically correlate, positively to a-SMA(r=0.76, p<0.01).Conclusion: The expression of ET-1,TGF-β1 and a-SMA in abnormal renalpelvis of hydronephrosis is higher than in the nomal renal pelvis. ET-1,TGF-β1induce muscle hypertrophy of renal pelvis, promote interstitial fibrosis and aggravaterenal impairment.
