BackgroundThe mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) are activated by cellular stresses and play an important role in regulating gene expression. MAPK transduce signals from cell membrane to nucleus in response to a wide variety of stimuli. MAPK pathways, in turn, coordinate activation of gene transcription, protein synthesis, cell cycle machinery, cell death, and differentiation. Accordingly, these pathways exert a profound effect on cell physiology.P38 pathways which is activated by the cellular surrounding stimuli, therefore called MAPK stress signaling pathway, is a important member of the MAPKs family. It is reported that p38 pathway obviously presented in gastric cancer, colon carcinoma, mammary adenocarcinoma tissue. P38 signaling pathway relate to tumorous genesis, development, invasion, resistance, rognosis.PurposeWe used immunohistochemistry streptavidin—peroxidase staining to obverse the expression of P38 MAPK protein in human Chondrosarcoma tissue, so that further understand the relationship between P38 protein and chondrosaromatous genesis, development, invasion, resistance, rognosis.MethodsExpression of P38 protein in 28 chondrosaroma cases and 26 osteochondroma to contrast by HE staining and S-P immunohistochemistry. We choose four fields of view in random, then count 100 masculine cell. The results are analyzed by statistics.ResultsThe results of s-p staining: P38 protein expresses in endocylema, there were 21 cases of positive expression of P38 protein in chondrosaroma, positive cell percentage is 75.00%(21/28), while positive cell percentage in is 30.77% (8/26) . The contrast has statistical significance (p<0.05) ; P-P38 protein expresses in intranuclear, there were 19 cases of positive expression of P38 protein in chondrosaroma, positive cell percentage is 67.86%(19/28), while positive cell percentage in is 26.92% (7/26) . The contrast has statistical significance (p<0.05) .ConclusionP38 protein obviously expresses high level in contrast to in osteochondroma, and the difference has statistical significance. Suggest that P38 protein is related to chondrosaromatous genesis, development and invasion.
