Objective: To compare the advantages of two gross motor function measure scales, Gross MotorFunction Measure-66 ( GMFM-66 ) and Gesell Development Scale-Gross Motor ( GDS-GM ) ,inthe evaluation of the gross motor function of children with cerebral palsy(CP).Methods: The gross motor function of 34 children with cerebral palsy were evaluated before andafter a course of treatment (three months) using GMFM-66 and GDS-GM respectively, andthen both kind of scores were compared by paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank testrespectively. Results: There was significant difference between before and after a course of treatment usingGMFM-66 in the evaluation of the gross motor function of 34 children with cerebral palsy, butthere was no significant difference using GDS-GM to evaluate the gross motor function of thesame 34 children with cerebral palsy. Conclusion: GMFM-66 was more sensitively than GDS-GM in the evaluation of the treatmenteffects of children with cerebral palsy.
