| Objective To assess the effectiveness of nephron sparing surgery for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma.Mothods A retrospective analysis of the clinical documents of 25 cases of RCC who underwent nephron sparing surgery. Of the 25 patients,20 were male and 5 were female,with an average age of 50.8 years.The mean diameter of the tumors was 2.84 cm and the Tl N0 M0 stage was found in all cases. The evaluated factors included postoperative complications and incidence of postoperative local recurrence.Results The procedure was successful in all 25 patients. The postoperative complications included bleeding in 3 cases. There were no other postoperative complications such as leakage of urine observed,and no distant or local recurrence.Conclusions Nephron sparing surgery is safe and effective for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma with small,localized tumors. |
