| Objective: From the character of pathology of age-related macular degeneration, the curative effect of the therapy of nourishing kidney and opening orifice was investigated.Method: 26 patients conforming to the criterion of age-related macular degeneration were observed with the therapy of nourishing kidney and opening orifice about the vision, Amsler list, the contrast sensitivity, the macular sign and symptom of the whole body , the variation of blood fat and blood current index were also checked.Result: With the therapy of nourishing kidney and opening orifice, the total effective rate was 72.34%.The result showed a great difference concerning the vision of pre-treatment and post-treatment (P<0.05).The macular pathological changes were ameliorated in some degree (P<0.05). The effective rate of Amsler list was 78.79%. At the same time, the contrast sensitivity showed significantly increase after treatment(P<0.05). Compared with pre-treatment, the blood current index decreased after treatment (P<0.05).In addition, the blood fat had significant difference in statistics(P<0.05).Conclusion: The therapy of nourishing kidney and opening orifice demonstrated satisfactory effect on the patients with AMD. It can increase the vision, the contrast sensitivity and Amsler list. In addition, it can improve the macular and the symptom of the whole body. The method can affect blood current index and blood fat.
