| By choosing the patients of Department of orthodontics, affiliated stomatological hospital of CQMU, this study was to investigate the anxiety state of Orthodontic patients and the rate of patients with dental anxiety, and to investigate Psychological intervention and ibuprofen on pain of the patients with dental anxiety. In this study, modified dental anxiety scale (MDAS) and state-trait anxiety inventory(STAI) were used to get anxiety information of Orthodontic patients. And sixty patients with dental anxiety were divided into 3 groups 20 each before Orthodontic treatment . Group A was blank group (control group), group B was Psychological intervention group, and group C was ibuprofen group. The pain evaluations were made during chewing, biting using a 100-mm visual analogue scale (100-mm VAS) for five days. The following results of statistical analysis can be showed from this study:1.Modified dental anxiety scale (MDAS) and state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) can effectively reflect the anxiety state of Orthodontic patients.2.About 28.92% of all had MDAS scores≥11 indicating obviously dental anxiety.3.Both the Psychological intervention group and the ibuprofen group reported significantly less pain (chewing pain , biting pain) than the control group(P <0.05). The Psychological intervention group reported less pain than the Ibuprofen group(P <0.05). The results indicate that both Psychological intervention and ibuprofen significantly decreased Orthodontic pain (chewing pain, biting pain) of the patients with dental anxiety. But ibuprofen is more effective on Orthodontic pain of the patients with dental anxiety compared with Psychological intervention. |
